JESUS CHRIST

That is all I can say right now. I will put the whining aside for this unfortunate event.

I know the entire country have seen the pictures. The devastation is so immense that I can't describe all of the hardships we will have to face here in MS and LA. My family and I weathered the storm but surviving is a struggle(nothing compares to the coast or New Orleans) but here in Jackson and the suburbs we don't have electricity and cannot find gasoline and have no phone that includes cell phones. It will be at least a week before we have power, when that is restored I will post pictures that I have been able to take.

If anyone reads this PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE pray for the people left in New Orleans that they can get to safety and that the coasts doesn't have more death than they have already reported.

God Bless,
Melissa

Will I ever get to relax?

After I came back from my trip to Rainbow Foods, I thought I would start a new healthy regimen. I recently stopped smoking( it's been 4 months) and lost 55 pounds last year. Great. I was already eating healthy by eating no fast food, ate fruit when I was hungry, ate more veggies, and cut back on red meat. So this week I decided to take it a step further.....I would stop drinking diet coke and drink more water and drink tea instead. Guess what....I get sick! I have been so miserable. My throat is sore, my sinuses hurt(actually my face feels like it is going to pop), and I can't breathe. That was Thursday. I started an antibiotic and actually do feel better today. I hope I am over this by Monday.

I was watching the news and here comes another hurricane. I feel so sorry for all those people in Florida. My prayers are with you guys. But here it comes our way in LA and MS. They are evacuating New Orleans and the MS coast. All those people (over a half million people) are coming this way. It makes Jackson a very busy place. Monday will be hectic at the store. I will keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't do much damage.

I haven't done any knitting. I organized my patterns that I have been printing from the internet but thats about it. I do love a few sights if you are interested in patterns visit: http://magknits.com/

I've been thinking I want to do this pattern but I don't have any double pointed needles. That's next on my list to get.

Well have fun webbing.

Granola

What a week this has been. Oh the DRAMA in my life is just hysterical. At the beginning of the week I was so sure I could get a great deal of knitting done. Boy was I wrong.

To start the week off, I had a migrane headache that lasted for a couple of days. I was tired from that and work, but then my husband decided to revolt on cleaning up the house. He sure can cook a good meal but he is the biggest mess maker( I was so pissed!) I have to clean up his crap and this. Not anymore I said. Then he falls walking out the back door. My precious poodle (that cannot see very well) flew out the back door and because he wasn't paying attention fell and almost broke his foot. Stupid, Stupid Stupid. He finally went to the doctor after a day and a half (only went because his boss made him go) . Men have no sense!
Anyway, the doc said he has a very bad sprain and a chipped bone fragment. Just what I need.
(Did I mention He hobbles around because he won't use a crutch.) Marbles for brains.

Ok...so It is Friday by now and finally get a day off and realize I have to finish the baby shower invitations. Easy, right. Wrong. I had a little printer drama but finally got the thing to work.

TIP: Order them don't do it yourself.

Great. I think everything is fine. I am now informed that my brother in laws mother won't come to the shower. ARGH! Old southern women are so stupid and petty. I love my sister...we have a great relationship.....she is my best friend. So I absolutely thought nothing of having a freakin' shower for her. But apparently I bucked somekind of tradition. I thought we lived in the new millennium the year 2005 not 1850. The brother in laws cousin was going to throw her a shower but is now also miffed and won't give her one now. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

So I decide I need to get away from all this chaos...I need to have some inner peace.

AAAAHHHH!!!!! Granola!!!!!

Yes that's right I grab the inner hippie in me and go to Rainbow Foods. They are an all natural, Organic type store. I just love this place! Anyway, I get some herbal tea, some fruit and a couple other natural things............Then, Come home to a messy house, loving animals, and my redneck husband.

HOME SWEET HOME

Again

I started the poncho over. This time I did it correctly. I hope to get a good portion of this done this week. Work will be pretty intense this week, so we shall see how much I can get done. Between work and planning a baby shower, knitting may be the last thing I do.

SSUUNNDDDAAAYYYY!!!!!

What a wonderful day! I love it when I don't have to work on Sunday. I knitted a few more rows on my poncho today and realized (oops!) my 1x1 rib knitting was wrong. I knitted when I should have pearled. It's all wrong 2 rows are correct and 3 aren't so I am ripping out stitches as we speak. In the mean time until I get caught back up, let me introduce my other pet.

This is Alexandra. She is my true love. She has been with me for 15 years. She is still a spunky little poodle but is getting elderly in her old age. She has cataracts, almost all her teeth are gone, doesn't hear well( neither do I) and has a touch of arthritis. Despite all of that She rules the house (the cats do what she says). Anyway, the vet says keep her comfy and she will be around maybe till she's 21. I just looked around the room and all my animals are asleep. Reagan is snoring. Time to go. NITY NITE!

A Look-See

These are a few pic's of my past knitting projects and my sewing room.
These are the cutest bootees.
This closet if full of fabric. I have an obsession with fabric. All kinds of beautiful fabric. I love to decorate and quilt. Which means everytime I see something I have to have it.
I need to weave the ends and seam this set together.

This is my next project. There are two rows so far. The pattern is from the Takhi 2004 Winter pattern book.

TESTING 1 2 3

What do you think?

This is my cat Reagan. She is allowing me to test out my new awesomely fabulous camera. My other pets are not being cooperative right now. I think they are sleepy. Don't really blame them.

It is kinda late, so I will get back to my normal whining(oops), I mean, writing about knitting and other fun stuff tomorrow.

CHOW BABY

Shopping

I just got home. I have been shopping for the last 12 hours!
Anyone that knows me, knows this is not unusual. I love to shop.

My sister was off today and so we rounded up my mother and went on a spree all over Jackson. First, we went shopping for baby furniture. My sister is due the first week of November. So we thought we would just look and get prices and compare. In Mississippi whatever it is you might need, want, or desire there is usually only one place that can service your needs. Like shopping for baby stuff. Your choice is The Playpen, or uhh... Walmart. Anyway, we fell in love with a 3 in 1 bed and the matching changing table. My mother and I just went banana's. Bought the furniture, the bedding set, sheets, wrapping paper...ect. We spent 3 hours there.

Second, we went to Knit Wits. The only place you can get high quality yarn around here other than Michael's or Walmart. Well, because it is owned by a bunch of women who run the business for fun, they are not there during business hours. They were closed at 3:00 pm, supposed to be open till 4:00 pm on Friday.

QUESTION: Does anyone in Mississippi knit besides me and the women who run Knit Wit's?

I wish I could just say I want to play for the rest of the day at my retail job (I am a manger for a national retail company) lets put a note on the door, lock it and leave. I think I would lose my job.
Nether the less I will do my yarn and book shopping online from now on.
This trip took about 10 minutes.

Third, we went to Sam's. Love this place. Nothing but a big warehouse full of stuff to purchase. Okay, I will just say I can't possibly tell you everything I bought(we would be here till tomorrow) but my best purchase was my new CAMERA. I can't wait to try it out. It will absolutely put my old digital camera to shame. We spent 3 1/2 hours Sam's. By this time it is after 6:pm. My husband calls on the cell and says "Where are you, when are you coming home and what's for dinner?" I reply "At Sam's, don't know, and why don't you eat a sandwich." My husband has to work tomorrow and new he wouldn't want to be out late. I just didn't know when we would be home. We shop a little more and now it is time to go to the check out. The only thing I hate to do is this task... I have to pick up all this stuff from 3 over flowing carts, put it on the counter for the cashier, pick it up to put it back in the buggy, load it in mom's car, unload my stuff into my car, take it home and take it inside. ZZZZZ .....If you are still with me, just a reminder this blog is called Spoiled Rotten. I did not break a nail but will probably have to go to the chiropractor on Monday. It is 7:00 pm by now.

Fourth, we decide we are hungry. Mexican it is. But before we go I just remembered I have to prepare a dish for work the next day. I just spent over $1000.00 at Sam's and did not get one single ingredient for my dish. What a bummer. Is now 8:45 pm.

Fifth, we go to Walmart. A shopper's paradise. We shop around and I get my stuff for Cheesy Baked Ziti (a recipe from my Southern Living Magazine). It is now MIDNIGHT!!! I am exhausted.

Get back home and I decide that I need to plan a baby shower for my sister. GASP!!! (That was Miss Manner's in the background) I know that a family member is not supposed to throw the baby shower, but I am my sister's best friend and by God if I want to throw her a freakin' shower I will.

***Phrase of the week "I do what I want!!!"***

YAWN
Moral, There isn't one. Just a lot of rants and a little rave. I will get back to knitting tomorrow. I started knitting the poncho yesterday. It will be cute as pie if I can keep the correct gauge. I will test out my new camera and send some pictures over the weekend.

Fresh Start

Hello!

I just have to say I absolutely love blogger.com. For reasons I prefer not to get into ( if you are curious visit my former journal @ http://journals.aol.com/mspoodle1/LeBrouhaha/. The last entry).

I think I will copy the first entry I made in Le Brouhaha. It pretty much sums up how it all started.

Where do I begin?

I really don't know, but here I go. Being creative is a passion for me. I absolutely love the process of learning something new(although it drives my husband crazy). It all began when I was very young with sewing baby doll clothes. By the age of 12 I could crochet, needlepoint, and crossstich anything. By the end of high school if I wanted a trendy outfit, I made it. I continued to be crafty through college. If there was one thing in my life I could change this would be it. Why I majored in accounting I will never know. Always, always always follow your dream. Anyway, since graduating almost 12 years ago, my interest have broadened a bit to design and quilting. Confession.... I am a bad quilter(I'll elaborate later). I also love to decorate. There is not one piece of furniture in my house that has a permanent place. NOTE: This will drive any man insane. After 11 years of marriage he still doesn't understand. Finally, last year I picked up a new skill. I learned to knit. It really is a lot of fun.
I am going to try to show what I can do. ***Let's hope my camera works***
